It's not just kids that say the darndest things - clients do ALL the time. I will never forget this one conversation that took place between a tech and a client.
This guy called up very worried because his 10lb yorkie had gotten into 4 M&M's. Now, that would really not have caused a problem (the amount of certain compounds we worry about in chocolate is really low in 4 M&M's!). So the tech told him that and said MAYBE the dog would have an upset stomach. The next thing I know she's got this look on her face and she says "You did what? You MADE activated charcoal? Umm..yeah that may upset the dog's stomach more than the 4 pieces of candy would have."
Here the guy had burnt 4 pieces of toast and slathered them with canned dog food and fed that to this little 10lb dog thinking he was preventing a "toxic event." THAT was definitely more likely to cause GI upset and possibly even pancreatitis.
Wow. More of that stuff to come....trust me, there's no end to the supply.
By the way...this is NOT how you make activated charcoal.
