The dead can't speak. Nor can the voiceless victims Dr. Dana Miller treats.
A veterinarian on staff at the Spartanburg Humane Society, Miller's focus area is veterinary forensics. Her knowledge will help solve animal cruelty and neglect cases in Spartanburg County.
As vice president of Anti-Cruelty Initiatives, a newly developed department of the Spartanburg Humane Society, Miller will assist with investigations and prosecutions of animal cruelty. She also will follow up on some cases, such as animal hoarding, and educate people on responsible pet ownership.
Miller considers a successful case one that gets to the “bottom of the truth.”
She searches for the truth when she examines animals. That could be a postmortem examination called a necropsy, which is similar to an autopsy.
